  • World Wide Technology, a distributor of information technology products and services in Maryland Heights, Mo. was ranked the nation's largest black-owned business by Black Enterprise in the magazine's industrial/service 100 list for the eighth consecutive year in 2011. Two other St. Louis-based companies, Roberts Brothers Properties L.L.C. and  Roberts Hotels Group L.L.C. ranked No. 40 and No. 42 respectively.
  • Fuse, based in St. Louis, has ranked among the top 10 largest black-owned advertising agencies on Black Enterprise's Top Ad Agencies list for seven consecutive years (2005-2011), including an 8th largest ranking in 2009.

  • Four St. Louis-based companies ranked highly on Fortune's 2011 "America's Most Admired Companies" list in their respective industries. Graybar Electric earned No. 2 in the Wholesalers: Diversified industry category. Other industry rankings included Express Scripts (No. 4 in Health Care: Pharmacy and Other Services), Bunge (No. 4 in Food Production), and Emerson Electric (No. 5 in the Electronics). Jones Financial and Energizer Holdings were also contenders ranking in the top 10 of their industry categories.
  • Monsanto is recognized on The Scientist magazine's 2011 survey of "Best Places to Work in Industry." Monsanto ranked 15th overall and 4th among the "Top Large Companies." The survey asked respondents to rate their places of employment on job satisfaction, benefits, training, integrity, room for intellectual and career development, and more.
  • The St. Louis-based Donald Danforth Plant Science Center was ranked as the 8th and Washington University the 40th Best Places to Work in Academia by The Scientist magazine in 2011. Rankings were tallied from a poll of 100,000 scientists and researchers working the field of life sciences. Washington University was also ranked as the 17th Best Place to Work for Postdocs.

Best Small Companies

  • Future Fuel Corp. was named No. 17 on Forbes' list of the nation's 100 Best Small Companies in 2011. 

  • Two St. Louis-based companies - Cass Information Systems and ESCO Technologies - made Forbes' list of The 200 Best Small Companies in the United States in October 2009, ranking No. 124 and No. 194 respectively in the nation.

Best Customer Service

  • BusinessWeek's 2008 rank of the nation's Customer Service Champs features two St. Louis-based companies: Edward Jones at No. 8 and Enterprise Rent-A-Car at No. 14, the rankings are based on the perceived quality of the companies’ staff, as well as what customers think of the companies’ processes, such as return policies and reservation procedures.

Top Corporate Performers

  • Three St. Louis-based companies, Express Scripts, Monsanto, and Peabody Energy, were named No. 6, No. 42, and No. 49 respectively on The BusinessWeek 50 list for 2010. These top performing companies were measured in 2010 by top-performing stocks in the S&P's 500-stock index over the past five years.
