St. Louis Area Business Leaders Presenting Region’s Legislative Agenda
In Jefferson City Today

Members of the St. Louis Regional Chamber and Growth Association (RCGA) Board of Directors, Public Policy Council, RCGA staff and other civic partners are sharing key legislative recommendations and priorities for Missouri in a series of meetings today with Senate and House leaders and Governor Matt Blunt, as part of the daylong RCGA Legislative Day in Jefferson City. In addition to the Governor, the group is meeting with Senate President Pro-Tem Mike Gibbons, Speaker of the House Rod Jetton, and other legislative and regional leaders.

The purpose of this annual trip is to present the RCGA Legislative Agenda for the 2007 session and to kick off the St. Louis region's annual legislative effort. RCGA leaders are discussing specific legislative issues involving economic development, transportation, and education issues with legislative leaders.

Highlights of the RCGA Legislative Agenda this year include completing a financing plan for Missouri's portion of the new Mississippi River Bridge downtown, fully funding the Life Sciences Trust Fund to expand Missouri's plant and life sciences research capacity, and strengthening and enhancing proven economic development tax credit programs, such as the Historic Preservation Tax Credits and Missouri Quality Jobs.

Following the day's meetings, the RCGA will host a reception for the entire Missouri General Assembly and Governor Blunt at the Capitol Plaza Hotel this evening.
